I have mainly positive views when it comes to using the internet for research uses. Students can use search engines and look for .edu or .gov sites which are "safe" to use. Students can also find interesting applications to make their projects stick out. The negatives about internet is that kids think they can get away with plagiarism or think they can. Students might also be distracted by facebook or myspace and not really work on their assignments.
Another another way to use web based resources is through distant learning. Distant learning is for students who can not attend school on a daily bases. This is an interactive television that attaches to the Internet and you are able to have a teacher actually teach you lessons in what you need. You can record yourself and have your students watch on their own time and do the lessons themselves. This is a good idea because the students will be at home and can hopefully remember the lesson to do their homework.
I do not think I will have much trouble watch students with the computer. I want to teach first grade so they will not really know fully how to use the computer. But I would have a major concern about copy right laws but they wouldnt really be doing assignments like that anyways

Chapter 7 talks about how outlines and idea maps as an important part of a lesson plan. These can be used in a variety of different ways in the classroom. An outline, is a great way to break down most important parts of a subject or to detail the expectations for a project. An idea map is useful for showing connections between different things and makes students answer the questions. I would def. use these two tools when I am a teacher.

I encourage my students to learn idea map, outline and storyboarding skills because they are all important. These skills would help them organize their thoughts in a more neatly fashion and help them save time. These skills really make it a lot easier to compose different papers or presentations. My students will thank me when they have a job where they are required to know these skills.

In the last week we learned important things about google and how to make searches easier. I found it really interesting the different things that google can look up. And it was cool because I found out they have over 25 billion pages and they are the biggest search engine! I think this would be good in my career because it will help make things a lot easier to find and less time consuming.

I will plan my lesson plans using the computer. I will use MS word. I will use this technology by using the computer and the different applications on MS word. This would be for grade level 1 so it would be well rounded with math, language arts, reading, science and history.

This website meets or shows all of the rules in chapter six. It definitely justifies the text appropriately, it limits the colors, it keeps text lines short, it provides emphasis, it uses a list, and the screen is organized. Florida State Universities website is a concise and simple site. I do not know how to screen shot on my computer so im sorry for not including one.
In my senior economics class in high school we watched footage of FOX news about a year before the presidential election. My teacher told us he could get into serious trouble for showing the footage in class but showed us anyways to point out the far right side of the spectrum. As a teacher I will deal with these concepts as serious. Whatever footage I do use I will cite my source or credit it in the beginning or end. Students could use sources like

blog journal #2 posting

As a student I have used MS word for writing papers, making power points for projects and now to make cool fliers for whatever I need!!! I have seen my teachers use MS word for power point slides, creating tests or quizzes and I am sure I have seen them use MS word for many other things but I just cannot think of them right now.
Things that I learned in chapter nine that I can use as a teacher would be to make tests using MS word, making tables to organize my students or for some other use I'm sure I can think of later and making links to the internet for different assignments I might give them.I also can import info from other applications and use it on my MS word assignments.
Something really cool that I have learned is how to actually utilize MS word. I have always used it for simple things and never knew the tricks but now I know some of them and can actually make stuff pretty or at least colorful enough to stand out and seem interesting. I can also make fliers for my students which is really neat. I never thought I would say this but MS word is cool!
